Spread Best Practices

We should have a concerted effort to track and promote best practices.  Effective practices must be  identified and established as standards.  If the practice is more cost effective, it should provide the basis for payment for the applicable treatment.  That will spread the practice and lower costs.

Electronic Medical Records

Electronic medical records need to be implemented throughout Ohio.  This is in  the financial best interest of  providers, researchers, and patients.  The state of the art in this area must be codified so that all medical facilities can implement this technology.  It is estimated that nationally this technology will save the economy $77 Billion annually.   These records along with complementary software will prevent errors in treatment and support statistical research to find the most successful and  cost effective treatments for patient conditions.  The role of the state in this development would be as a facilitator.  In the absence of system development on the federal level, cooperation with work in other states should be sought.

Medical Note System

Another needed improvement is a graphically enhanced phrase catching system for medical practitioner  notes.  Such systems use graphical and key word queues along with grammar splicing to produce notes.  Such a system would save a substantial amount of medical personnel time and improve the clarity and accuracy of medical records.

Medical Personnel Recruiting

We should financially support the training of medical personnel in exchange for years of service in the profession in Ohio.  This should include physicians , nurses, and technicians.
